I’m interested in an exchange
Welcome to our comfortable home in western suburbs of lively Cork City.
Our house is spacious and comfortable, facing east for morning sun and west to capture the evening sun on the patio and in the large bright kitchen, where we spend most of our time. This room extends to the lounge area where we have a fireplace, Smart TV as well as books etc.
There is a sitting room which is a haven of calm. This is a quiet relaxing place, with fireplace.
We also have a den downstairs, with a 56 inch OLED TV.
Off the kitchen there's a utility room with washing machine, dryer and storage.
There is a downstairs WC, and upstairs there are two bathrooms. We have 4 bedrooms, 2 double, 2 single.
The entire house has been renovated in 2020.
Free wifi - Gas BBQ - Smart TVs - Netflix - Google Home
Our garden overlooks the green. There are flowers and shrubs in bloom in the summer. Parking is in the drive or on the street outside. At the back of the house there is a very private patio with a small fountain, a BBQ, picnic table and sun loungers.
Kenley Drive is a quiet road with a group of houses surrounding a green, tucked away from the main road, so it's quite safe for children to play there.
As for us, we like to be near water when on summer holidays, preferably a beach or a community pool. We'd also like to be reasonably near night time entertainment - restaurants, pubs, outdoor cafes etc.
We are interested in short term exchanges in Ireland and Europe, and longer exchanges worldwide. We are open to non-simultaneous exchanges.
☆☆☆ We have already arranged exchanges for APRIL, AUGUST AND SEPTEMBER 2024. ☆☆☆

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
Kenley Drive is a quiet road with a few houses surrounding a green. It is tucked away from the main road, so the green is safe for children to play on.
There are open sports grounds within walking distance where you can walk or maybe catch a game of hurling or Gaelic football. The clubhouse bar is open to the public too.
There's also an indoor swimming pool complex with an extensive gym within walking distance. Greyhound racing is held a few nights a week, just 10 minutes' drive away. For those who like a riverside walk or jog, there is a walking/biking trail through the neighbourhood which brings you right into the city, 8km approx. There is a bike rental station 5 minutes walk from our home. Also nearby is The Lough, an amenity area and bird sanctuary that has been a popular spot with Cork people for centuries.
There are 3 or 4 very nice pubs within walking distance where you can meet the locals and take in the atmosphere (as well as the Guinness!) Two restaurants The Model Farm and The Rendezvous are within walking distance. The Bean Town Cafe, 10 minutes walk away is a great spot for breakfast and lunch.
The neighbourhood has a good supply of large supermarkets: Tesco, Lidl, Aldi and Dunnes Stores are a short drive away, as well as plenty of small shops, pharmacies, hairdressers, butcher, post office, banks, ATMs. There are a few restaurants serving international cuisine, where you can eat in or take out. Cork city has a great food scene! We regularly update our restaurant guide for visitors.
The University hospital is less than 10 minutes away by car.
There are two very interesting churches in the neighbourhood.
The University UCC (founded 1850), is nearby, as well as the Munster Technological Institute.
The bus ride to town takes about 20 minutes. The bus routes both pass through the city centre. One goes to Crosshaven, the other goes to the train station.
In the centre, explore the English Market, art galleries, museum, old streets, library with interesting exhibits (permanent Rory Gallagher exhibition), Shandon steeple with its bells, which you can ring, etc etc. Good shopping too! There are also many shopping malls on the outskirts of town.
Out of town there are opportunities to play golf, go horse riding, visit beaches, go hiking or cycling. Blarney Castle is a 20 minute drive away. Kinsale, Ireland's gourmet capital is about 30 minutes by car. Cobh has the Titanic museum, a cruise terminal and opportunities for Cork Harbour boat trips. Killarney can be reached in a little over an hour.

perfect
We had excellent communication with our exchange partner. Every question, no matter how trivial was answered with patience. The apartment is lovely, with a fantastic view. It has been newly fitted out and the furnishings are beautiful. We were just a short stroll from the beach, and there were numerous restaurants along the street in front of the apartment. The car exchange went very well too.
Communication was great. The home was as described. Our home was perfect when we returned. The location is perfect for touring. We were really happy with this exchange.
Aiden and Mags' house is exactly as described in the advert. A very charming place, well connected to the centre of Cork but in a quiet location. As for Aiden and Mags, I can only say that they are a lovely couple who provided all the necessary information to get to know the area as well as our first days of stay, leaving us food and some more details in the fridge. Thank you very much, friends.
