About the neighborhood
Welcome to POZnań!
Our house is located in west district of Poznań. There is a good public transport and many shops around. Express roads lead you straight to our house.
In surroundings of our house you can find two lakes - Strzeszyńskie and Kierskie where you can swim, canoe and sunbathe. And if you like biking there are many bicycle roads near those lakes.
Poznań as one of oldest polish towns has many old monuments and historic places - from the gothic cathedral in Ostrów Tumski, through the Old Market, with its renaissance Burgher Houses and the Town Hall, to the baroque Fara Church.
You can make a tour of museums, and there are 20 of them in the city ranging from art, applied arts, ethnography, musical instruments to war memorabilia and literature museums.
Nature lovers will enjoy the prospect of visiting two zoological gardens, a botanical garden (very close to our house) and arboretum, a palm house (palmiarnia), and numerous parks and nature reserves.
If you want to spend time pursuing sports activities, go to Malta Lake, there is always something interesting to do, regardless of the season of the year. In summer, swimming might be enticing, and a skiing slope is open all year round (skis and ski-shoes can be rented on site), as is a toboggan run. The area around the lake is an attractive place to go for a walk, a bike ride, or do some roller skating/roller blading.
For those who like longer hikes on foot, there are five well marked tourist routes weaving through charming green areas on the city outskirts. the most interesting one goes through Morasko and the meteorite reserve. The longest one, 13.5 km, starts in Golecin, passes along the Rusalka Lake, through Strzeszyn, along the Kierskie Lake and ends at Krzyzowniki (near our area). As many as four lakes are located within the city borders: natural ones Kierskie and Strzeszynskie, and the artificial Rusalka and Malta. All of them are used for recreational purposes, although sailing is best done on Kierskie, and canoeing and rowing on Malta, which is the site of world, european, national, and regional level championships in those two disciplines.
One of the most interesting places in Poznań is Stary Browar. This is a place where everyday pleasures: shopping, business dinner, coffee with mum, a night out with friends, become meetings with art. A place where everyone can touch, listen to and see art - and, most importantly, take part in its creation.
Over 200 shops, 15 restaurants, 13 cafés, a theatre, a concert hall, several exhibition rooms, an 8-screen cinema, Blow Up Hall 50 50, 3 music clubs and a historic park – all in the centre of Poznań, in a historic setting of the 19th century industrial architecture of the old brewery. Stary Browar 50 50 merges the old and the new, history with modern design and, what seems the most important, this is a place where business advances art, and art advances business.
The new attraction of Poznań is opened last April the Heritage center of Cathedral Island (ICHOT) - we were there several times and reccomend it to everybody.
