Notre région, la Hesbaye, est une terre fertile qui offre maintes possibilités de promenades rurales. Les petites villes de la région comme Tienen, Zoutleeuw et Sint-Truiden ne manqueront certainement pas de vous charmer, particulièrement lors du mois d'avril, quand tous les arbres fruitiers sont en fleur. Un peu plus loin, vous trouverez des villes comme Louvain (18 min en train) ou encore Bruxelles, Gand et Bruges (toutes faciles d'accès en train).
En Wallonie, Liège et Namur ne pourront certainement pas manquer au programme culturel. Pour ceux qui aiment la nature un peu plus sauvage, vous n'êtes qu'à 3 quarts d'heure de route des Ardennes belges.
Nous disposons de 5 vélos, aussi bien pour enfants que pour adultes.
Il y a une petite gare avec parking gratuit à 1.4 km de chez nous (Ezemaal), ainsi qu'une plus grande gare à Tienen à 5 km.

Onze streek, Haspengouw, is een vruchtbare fruit-producerende regio die veel mogelijkheden biedt op het vlak van wandelingen en fietsen. Stadjes als Tienen, Zoutleeuw en Sint-Truiden zullen jullie zeker kunnen bekoren, vooral in april, de bloesemmaand. Wat verder vind je steden als Leuven (minder dan 20 min met de trein), maar ook Hasselt, Brussel, Gent en Brugge. In Wallonië mogen Luik en Namen zeker niet ontbreken op het programma. Zij die van wat ruigere natuur houden, kunnen steeds richting de Ardennen (een 40tal minuutjes rijden).
Op 1.4 km van ons huis bevindt zich een klein station met gratis parking. In Tienen (5km) is een groter station met meer verbindingen.

Our region, the Hesbaye, is a fertile land that offers many possibilities for beautiful nature walks. Small towns like Tienen, Zoutleeuw or Sint-Truiden will certainly charm you. Travelling a little further, you will find cities like Louvain (18 min. by train), Brussels, Ghent and Bruges (easily accessible by train). In Wallonia, Liège and Namur will have to figure on your cultural program. For those who prefer a bit more wild nature, the Belgian Ardennes are only about 45 min. drive away and are also definitely worth the trip. If you are interested in World War II and the Battle of the Bulge (Bastogne) makes for a day trip. For those interested in World War I, the poppies in Flander's Fields, as well as the numerous war cemetaries and memorials (Ypres) will also be worth the visit.
We have 5 bikes at your disposal (both for kids and adults).
There is a small station at 1.4 km from our house (Ezemaal), as well as a bigger one in Tienen (5km). Ezemaal has free car park.

Notre petite famille belgo-irlandaise est composée de Barry, Jonah, Elias, Nessa, Simon et Valérie. Nous possédons trois poules qui comptent sur vous pour leur donner de l'eau et de la nourriture de temps en temps, en échange d'oeufs frais. Nous aimons les voyages, la gastronomie, les promenades, le cyclisme (quand il fait beau), la lecture (quand on a le temps...) et la musique. Barry est chercheur scientifique dans le domaine de l'informatique, tandis que Valérie, romaniste de formation, est maman à plein temps depuis quelques années. Jonah aime le foot, la lecture et les scouts. Elias, quant à lui, est particulièrement intéressé par les Diables Rouges et tout ce qui est foot, les scouts et les BD. Nessa aime l'escalade, la clarinette et les scouts. Simon lui, est un adepte du hockey et de l'escalade, ainsi qu'un scout aguerri.

Our little Belgian-Irish family consists of Barry, Jonah, Elias, Nessa, Simon and Valérie. We have 3 chickens who will count on you to provide them with water and food from time to time, in return for a supply of eggs. We love traveling, gastronomy, walking, sports, reading (when we have time...) and music. Barry is a scientific researcher in memory and reliability. Valérie trained as a linguist but has been a full time mam for the last few years. Jonah is particularly fond of football, reading, and scouting. Elias is an all-round football-fan, loves comic books and scouting while Nessa loves climbing the clarinet and scouting. Simon is a happy seven year old who enjoys hockey, climbing and scouting.

We hebben 3 kippen die op jullie rekenen om hen af en toe water en eten te geven, in ruil voor verse eitjes. We houden van reizen, eten, wandelen, sport, lezen en muziek. Barry is wetenschappelijk onderzoeker in memory en reliability. Valérie studeerde Romaanse talen, maar is al enkele jaren voltijds mama. Jonah houdt van voetbal, lezen en scouts. Elias is eveneens voetbal- en Rode Duivelsfan, leest graag strips en is scout in hart en nieren. Nessa vindt klimmen het leukste wat er is, naast klarinet en scouts. Simon is een vrolijk ventje van zeven dat van hockey, klimmen en scouts houdt.
