Flat with roof terrace in the centre of Lucerne, close to the lake and the mountains
Our family flat is located in the centre of Lucerne, within walking distance of the historic old town and the nearby recreational areas by the lake or in the surrounding forests. The duplex flat is located on the 6th floor under the roof, has 3 bedrooms (1 master bedroom, 2 children's rooms with queen-size beds), a large living and dining room with adjoining kitchen as well as 1 bathroom and 1 separate toilet. An additional bed can be placed in a room that we use as storage space and for laundry etc. The large rooftop terrace with a view over the old town invites you to linger in summer. When the windows (only on one side of the flat) are open, you can hear the trains passing by. You can't hear them when the windows are closed! Please note that there is no car park for the flat. The railway station is within walking distance. Lucerne is an ideal starting point for excursions to the Alps or other Swiss cities. We are happy to share our favourite places with you!

The contact with Lorne and Maureen was very friendly and trusting right from the start, so we quickly had a very good feeling that the house swap would be great. The reception at their house was very friendly and uncomplicated. They provided a lot of information for excursions in the region and there was good information about the house, waste disposal etc. prepared. We quickly felt very comfortable and you could tell that this was not the first time they had exchanged houses. We were also in contact during our stay and they were very helpful. We can only thank Lorne and Maureen for a great stay in their home and for leaving our apartment so clean and tidy for our return. Feeding our gerbils was also no problem at all for them and the little updates on the well being of the pets made our children very happy. The house swap was a great success for us and encourages us to plan more.

We are Simone, Rayk, Tilda (14 years) and Hannes (12 years) from Lucerne. We enjoy travelling together to explore the near and far surroundings - on foot or by public transport. We love stand-up paddling and swimming in Lake Lucerne, hiking to one of the nearby peaks and barbecuing in the nearby forest. But we also enjoy being at home, reading a lot (there is a fairly large library of German and English literature in our flat), making music, cooking and playing board games. The children still go to school, so we are dependent on school holidays for the house exchange. Rayk has a degree in philosophy and works as a counsellor and comedian, Simone works for an Early Childhood Institute. Our family includes two gerbils called Hera and Juno, who need to be provided with food and water while we are away.
We have had our first exchange experience this summer, are thrilled and would definitely like to continue this form of travelling!
