Appartement met 2 (kleine) slaapkamers
We live in the heart of Amsterdam, near Nieuwmarkt and Waterlooplein.
Our house is small and full of books and other quirky objects! All our furniture is vintage/reclaimed or self built.
At the front of the house, overlooking the old synagogue, the living/dining room and a home office space. We like family/board games so you'll find those too and you won't miss the junior drumkit!
We love bird watching and are lucky enough to have a lively tree in front of our window.
The small bedrooms and kitchen are at the back, accessing the narrow balcony.
Our kid is 13 and has still some toys in his bedroom, specially dinos and lego. He has a "cabin" bed with an extra drawer bed for guests.
The kitchen and his bedroom give access to the balcony. Our tiny bedroom has a wall-to-wall bed and two closets - nothing else fits :) . Please note our bed is elevated (80 cm) to create storage space under. We do have a step-up if needed.
There is a narrow balcony, on the north side. We leave it a bit wild and sometimes grow vegetables there. It's also attended by birds due to the hanging bird feeder.
The bathroom has a shower and washing machine. You can hang clothes upstairs.
The kitchen is made of reclaimed furniture with open shelves and has a dishwasher, electrical (steam) oven and a retro gas stove. Our quirky home is also pretty full, it reflects our personal passions like comics and love for vintage.
And of course there is our 18 year old cat, he just sits on the sofa or under a chair all day. He does need some care so we normally will look for families with pet care to swap. Because our cat is shy we prefer not to have young children staying (8+ is fine). My mother in law lives very nearby so any help needed she will be happy to provide.

Neighborhood
About the neighborhood
We live in the heart of Amsterdam, in a beautiful part of town! The photo's shown here are all our street or nearby. Despite being situated in the city center, our island is remarkably peaceful. Rembrandt House-Museum is just at the end of the street.
From this central location, you can easily explore the entire city on foot, by bike, or public transport, with two metro stations just a 5-minute walk away. We are within walking distance of Amsterdam Central Station (10 mins), so a car is not necessary -we do not own one - and while parking in our street is not challenging, there is an hourly fee of 7,50 eur.
Shops and several supermarkets just around the corner. There are lots of cafés and restaurants in the area, for all tastes and budgets. We are happy to provide tips for families. From Amsterdam you can also visit many places in The Netherlands on one day trips.
Nearest Airport: schiphol

We are a family of three living in the heart of Amsterdam with our beloved cat.
Our home is filled with books, with one of us working with art books and the other being a graphic designer.
Our teenager is passionate about inline skating, drumming and gaming.
We are an environmentally conscious family, and generally travel by train or bike (or both). We often travel long distances by train, such as from Amsterdam to Lisbon. It's our favourite way to travel. And we are used to puzzle many connections to make it work! Please note we prefer exchanges that don’t require using a car.
We love pet-sitting, and we often care for our neighbors' chickens and cats. We gladly take care of all animals!
When seeking exchanges, we hope to find families with older children (8+) or no children who can provide a quiet environment for our 18-year-old, somewhat shy cat.
